During his tenure at UMass Boston, the Beacons qualified for the Little East Conference playoffs each year and set a school record for the lowest team ERA in 2006 which they then broke in 2007. In 2009 the Beacons set a school record for conference victories when they finished 8-6 in one of the nation's best Division III conference for baseball. Blumsack played two years of collegiate baseball at Roger Williams University in 1999 and 2000. During that span, as a first and third baseman, Blumsack led RWU in hits, batting average and slugging percentage, and he was second on the team in homeruns and doubles. Blumsack ranks fifth all-time in batting average, seventh in homeruns, ninth in RBI and 10th in doubles at Roger Williams.
Prior to attending RWU, Blumsack played two years of baseball at Southern New Hampshire University where the Penmen were the 1997 ECAC Division II Champions.
